About Us

I-Kuan Tao Ming Hwa Temple was established in 1997 by the members of Jīchǔ Division of I-Kuan Tao (基礎忠恕). The temple is a federal registered Canadian Not-For-Profit religious organization with teaching centres in Vancouver, Calgary, and Markham. Each teaching centre, overseen by a Tao Transmitting Master (點傳師), has its sanctuary carrying all the rituals and worships regularly, and runs regular teaching classes, seminars, vegetarianism promotions, and various activities related to spiritual cultivation.

Today’s situation of the advancement of technology, social diversity, pressures of living, excessive material desires, frequent natural disasters, human conflict, and so on may leave us feel bewildered, helpless, and even terrified. Finding joy and peace in daily life has obviously become a severe and inevitable challenge that may endure for generations as an ongoing homework. The only answer that can solve this challenge is embarking on spiritual cultivation to understand the true nature of life and regain our original selves.

Over two thousand years ago, Shakyamuni Buddha declared to his disciples, prophesying that Maitreya Bodhisattva would come to save sentient being after him. The fact that I-Kuan Tao carries the esoteric dharma fulfilled this prophecy. This esoteric dharma is the ultimate one that can directly reveal true heart, facilitating sudden realization of one’s inherent self. It guarantees rebirth in Maitreya’s pure land and is particularly suited to today’s societal circumstances. It requires no renunciation of worldly life or secular professions. It suits all people, provided that they do not engage in unethical occupations or activities.
